How To Have An Obedient And Happy Dog

You’d like to keep your pet dog indoors, however you can’t deal with all of your belongings being ruined. If your dog chews furniture and cannot be left alone, you need to train it properly. This guide will show you detailed tips on how to teach your dog to live peacefully inside your home.

Training your dog to walk on lead takes time. The idea is to have your dog walk obediently beside you without straining, tugging, and pulling from side to side. Correct your dog’s movement with short snaps of the lead that pull sharply and abruptly back against his momentum. He will stop pulling and walk complacently for a time beside you. During this time loosen the lead but when he pulls again snap the lead again.

When teaching a puppy basic commands, start with ‘sit’. This is the easiest one for a dog to master. Hold his favorite snack just above his nose, and firmly say ‘sit’. Most dogs will instinctively sit down at this point. Offer him the treat and don’t forget to praise him profusely. If he doesn’t sit, gently push his rear end towards the floor. After he has been sitting for a few seconds, give him the treat, and like before, remember to praise him.

Exercise is an important part of any dog’s training program. Animals that are restless and cooped up are more likely to act out and have difficulty following instructions. Taking your dog out for a daily walk or bringing them to a local dog part will help them to be successful.

As you begin working with your dog on their training program, make sure to pay close attention to their diet. Much like humans, a dog gets their fuel from what they eat each day. Having a diet that is not nutritionally sound can affect a dog’s behavior and make training more difficult.

Look for triggers that may cause bad behavior from your dog. If your dog is suddenly exhibiting unwanted behaviors, maybe something has changed that day: Has he been able to go on a walk or has he been cooped up? Were you gone all day when normally someone is at home? Dogs are creatures of consistency and when things change their behavior can change as well.

Keeping your dog indoors can be very challenging. Your dog may be ruining your things and trying your patience. Use the tips from this article to make dog training easy.
