Training Your Dog Is Easy When You Know What To Do!

Puppy training is vital to your happiness, and the dog’s as well. An obedient dog will be easier to live with and you will know what can be expected. You will not have to worry about leaving him home along or taking him to public places. It may take time and dedication, but it is a great idea to train a dog well.

If you are attempting to crate train your dog, remember that it is a multi-step process. When your dog appears to be at ease while inside the crate with the door ajar, you can help him adjust to the crate even further by slowly latching the door and rewarding him with treats fed to him through the spaces between the wires. Start off with small periods, for example 10 seconds or so, and gradually increase crate time. If the dog shows signs of distress, you may be progressing too quickly.

The more active your dog is, the healthier it will be. Dogs are easily bored. Dogs with no enthusiasm will be harder to train than active dogs. If your dog is fit and content, he will be much more likely to heed your instructions. Lead your dog on the path to fitness by walking or jogging every day.

Take caution when near an unfamiliar dog and offer them a chance to sniff your hands. As you do this, you give the dog an opportunity to acclimate to your scent and become used to your presence. Dogs that know your smell are less likely to fear you and more likely to obey commands.

Be mindful of how long the sessions are when you train your dog. Dog attention spans only go so far, so make sure not to go on too long. Keep the lessons down to about 10 minutes or so.

When your dog does something unacceptable, make sure that it becomes known. This will not harm your dog if done gently, but it will be uncomfortable. After a while, they will stop jumping on people because they will associate it with the uncomfortable feeling.

Dog training establishes the rules of a dog/owner relationship and once the rules have been set down, both you and your dog will have a much more enjoyable relationship. Always reinforce everything you have taught your dog. If he deviates from any acceptable behavior, you need to correct this right away, and work every day to make sure that he is remembering what you have taught him. When your dog has a solid foundation in the basics, his potential is unlimited.
